I was born and raised in Southern California, and I have a background in Psychology, Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.
I started using essential oils about 6 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter, and over the years I have discovered how essential oils can be effective and helpful tools to use for mental, emotional, and physical health.
NEVER put oils inside your nose, eyes, or ear canal.
Be aware of Hot Oils:
Hot essential oils are oils that could cause discomfort when used on the skin without a carrier oil. Once diluted with a carrier oil, hot oils are incredibly beneficial.
You don’t need to avoid using them as they have many wonderful benefits. However, to use them safely, dilute first with a carrier oil! 9 doTERRA oils considered hot oils:
Cassia
Cinnamon Bark (very hot)
Clove
Ginger
Lemongrass
Oregano (very hot)
Peppermint (sensitive skin)
Thyme
Wintergreen (sensitive skin)
Be mindful of Photosensitive Oils: Oils that can cause a reaction on your skin when directly exposed to the sun. These oils include all citrus oils, Bergamot, Lime, Cumin.
TIP: Apply hot oils to the bottoms of your feet, or areas that are covered if you will be in the sun.
Look for supplement facts before ingesting as only some essential oils are ok for ingesting.
If you ever need to remove oil from your skin don't use water, instead use coconut oil, milk, or butter.
